Birch bark canoe made by Algonquin Indians. Lined inside with white cedar ribs and long, thin planking strips. Sewn with watap (root of white spruce tree) and sealed with glue-like pitch from pine tree. Made from White Birch, Betula papyrifera, Betulaceae.
